Betty L. Richardson

January 15, 1937 ‒ December 24, 2018

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Betty L. Richardson, age 81, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday afternoon, December 24, 2018, at the Morrow County Hospital.

Betty was born a twin on January 15, 1937, in Edison, OH, to the late William E. and Edna M. (Weaver) Rogers.

In 1953, a young man named James C. “Jim” Richardson approached Betty in his Packard convertible. He asked her to join him for a ride and she couldn’t resist him or the car. On October 3, 1953, the two were married and at the time of Jim’s passing in 2010 had shared nearly 57 wonderful years of marriage.

Much more than a homemaker, Betty enjoyed being on the go. She loved visiting family and friends, especially in Florida where she liked to go boating. Betty also enjoyed gardening and canning many of the items she grew. Around the house Betty often could be found routing for the Buckeyes. She also liked watching professional sports and really liked watching Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal. Away from the home, Betty was member of the TWIGS at the Morrow County Hospital where she dedicated a lot of her time tending to the needs of the Hospital.

Most importantly Betty loved spending time with her family. She was always the biggest cheerleader at the sporting events of her grandkids and great grandkids. Betty will be dearly missed by her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas & Judy Richardson of Mount Gilead, and their children: Nathan (Samantha) Richardson and Lacie (Shawn) Shipman; Jeffrey & Cindy Richardson of Pensacola, FL; Joseph & Shelley Richardson of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, and their daughter, Sierra Richardson; and Stephen & Carla Richardson of Cardington, and their children: Taylor and Mason Richardson; three great-grandchildren: Grace and Gauge Shipman, and James Richardson; three siblings: Robert, Harold, and Jenny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents: Edward and Edna; a infants son, Frederick Alvin Richardson; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Her family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Mount Gilead Church of Christ. (322 Iberia St, Mt Gilead, OH 43338). A celebration of her life will be held there on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 10:30 AM, with Pastor Paul Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
