Betty Jane Nauman, 78, of New Delaware Road, Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2008 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus with family at her bedside. She was born on August 9, 1930 near Centerburg, a daughter of the late Virgil and Marie (Moxley) Styers.

Betty graduated from Centerburg High School in 1948 and the following year on December 10, 1949 she married Kenneth Nauman. Betty was a member of the Central Church of Christ, which she loved dearly. She was a 4-H advisor for many years. Betty loved to cook and sew for her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Kenneth; her caring children, Randy (Debbie) Nauman of Mount Vernon and their children, Eric and Allison Nauman, Kathy (Karl) Barkschat of Centerburg and their children, Lee, Karrie, Kurt, and Kelly Barkschat, Steve (Alden) Nauman of Cincinnati and their children, Joshua and Chelsey Nauman, and Michael (Debra) Nauman of Mount Vernon and their children, Amanda Hubbard and Tracy Nauman; seven great grandchildren; brothers, William (Mary) Styers, Ronald (Hazel) Styers, and Jerry (Marjorie) Styers all of Mount Vernon; sisters, Ramona Pruitt of Mount Vernon, Elaine (David) Blake of Utica, and Cheryl (Robert) Nethers of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Central Church of Christ, 1005 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon with Mr. Ken Springer, Mr. Don Linn and Mr. Brent Linn officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.

The family requests that donations be made to the Building Fund of the Central Church of Christ in lieu of flowers.
