Bertha Ruark, age 95 of Mt. Vernon, died Monday morning, April 2nd, 2018 in Ocala, Florida.

She was born December 9, 1922 in Stricklett, Kentucky to the late Johnny and Sarah (Butler) Bloomfield. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a nurses’ aide for Elmhurst Nursing Home in Westerville for several years and then as an assembler for AT&T in Columbus for over sixteen years.

She is survived by her sons George (Linda) of Mt. Vernon; Larry of Mt. Vernon; Bill (Janet) of Sunbury; Darrell (Nanette) of Marengo; daughters Connie Ruark of Mt. Vernon; Wanda Pittman of Mt. Vernon; and son-in-law Terry Traxler; as well as 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, George Ruark; daughter Linda Traxler; sons-in-law Eddie Pittman and Kevin Smith; daughter-in-law Sylvia Geshwilm Ruark; granddaughter Jody Traxler; brothers George and Edgar; and sisters Weaver, Lona, Dorothy and Lilli.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8th at 8:00 p.m. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service, at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61 in Sunbury, with Pastor Janet Ruark officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Lower Lights Ministries, 1066 Bellows Avenue, Columbus, OH 43223. Inurnment will be at a later date at Friendship Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, OH.

  • Sorry kids I wish I could be there but my husband can’t go very far .she is still as beautiful as ever.Wish I could see all of u guys .But if u need anything u know where I’m at .Walleen called and told me .Phoeby had called and told me to .i remember Barb and I got to come up and stay a week with u guys .had more fun .we never got to do anything like that we thought we were in want to thank you all for that memory.always loved your dad he got me down on the couch and tickled me till I almost lost my breath. loved all of u had such a great time .thanks wished we could get them all back and go to the park and have a cook out with Jim and WallineMom and dad Bertha and your dad and all of u guys .love each and every one of u
