Bertha Ellen Selby, age 79, of Centerburg, died peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2019.  Former owner of Selby’s Marathon in Centerburg.  Member of Milford Church of Christ and the Centerburg Senior Center.  Longtime volunteer with the Old Time Farming Festival.  Bertha was a friendly, kind, giving, caring person, who loved her family and friends unconditionally. She would donate her time tutoring school children and volunteering at St. Ann’s Hospital to support breast cancer survivors.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, especially baking pies and flower gardening.  Born March 2, 1940 in Fedscreek, KY to the late Vernard and Jane (Slone) Michael.  Also preceded in death by husband, Ralph Selby; grandson, Daniel Silcott; brother, Ercel Michael; sister, Ethel Stacy.  Survived by loving husband, Thomas N. Wood; devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Debra K. and Joel Kellar of Westerville, Kristi S. and Jason Litzenberg of Powell; step children, Tim (Robin) Wood, Becky (Doug) Thompson all of Centerburg; grandchildren, Brooke (Tim) Firlik of Plain City, Chadd Temple of Westerville, Andrew Litzenberg of Powell; sister, Sue (Lee) Fuller of Fedscreek, KY; 6 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren.  Friends may call 4 to 7 PM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61, (at SR 3), Sunbury.  Funeral Service 10:30 am Saturday at the Milford Church of Christ, 3648 Johnstown Rd., Centerburg.  Pastor Kevin Moreland officiating. Interment Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Milford Church of Christ in Bertha’s memory.  The DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Bertha’s family.  Please visit to share a memory or condolence with the family.

  • We are sad that Bertha has left us but happy for her that she’s no longer suffering. Bertha enjoyed life and loved people. We will miss her. We pray for God’s comfort for Tom and Bertha’s family.

  • Bertha certainly was a sweet. loving person. She was monumental in the year 2003 helping me cope with breast cancer. We went to several support group meetings together at St.Ann’s in Columbus. Now she’s onward and upward to receive her rewards for all the good she did on earth. Wonderful lady!

  • Tom and family, what a wonderful and devoted family Bertha was so Blessed to have. There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t have multiple family members there to visit with her. I only wish we could’ve had Bertha longer she was such a kind lady that was so gracious no matter how much pain she was in. She was a beautiful woman.
    She is truly already missed.
