Benjamas “Benji” K. Underwood, age 60, of Mount Vernon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at her residence.  She was born in Bangkok, Thailand on December 25, 1960 to Vijit and Lamai (Petthai) Jittpersouk.

After graduated from high school in Thailand, Benjamas moved to the United States.  She worked for Sanoh America Inc. for over 30 years as a quality control inspector.  She was a very fun-loving person and made everyone around her laugh.  Benji loved watching Animal Planet, cooking and bowling.  One of her greatest joys was being around her canine companions, Shiloh, Doodle Bug and Cierra.  The light of her life was her grandchildren, Demetrius, and Bryson.   She was known to many as Benji, Na Kak and Yai Yai, but loved by all.

She is survived by her son, Patrick (Briean Strait) Underwood; siblings, Dana Neitzeit, Ann Jennings, Atison, Niwat, Arinunya, Yodchai, Jittpersouk, and Vickie Dailey; nieces, Venus (Todd) Reffey, Brandie Daniels-Anderson, Jhazmyn Anderson; nephews, Bryan and Mike Neitzeit, Dakota Anderson, Phoenix and Bryan Neitzeit Jr; grandchildren, Demetrius and Bryson Underwood; ex-husband Thomas Underwood.

Along with her mother, Benjamas is preceded in death by her brother, Tawatchai Jittpersouk.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 5-7 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Road Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.00

  • I am so sad to hear about Benji. I have known Benji for a very long time even before I started working with her 27 years ago. I will truly miss her as she always brighten my day.
