Barbara E. Patterson, 93, of Delaware passed away Saturday evening, May 28, 2016 at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.

She was born September 1, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Kellogg and Angela Patterson. Barbara graduated from Indiana University with a master’s degree in education and went on to teach at Evanston Town High School and later Delaware Hayes High School.

Barbara was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Delaware where she was a member of the Daughters of the King. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. In her free time, she loved reading and listening to music. She also received an award from the American Red Cross in Water Craft Safety for 50 years of volunteer service.

She is survived by many nursing home and church friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Bruce March Patterson.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 45 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Rushville, Illinois.

The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center of Delaware is assisting the family.

  • Barb was a special lady. I enjoyed small craft because of her. It lead to a lifetime of enjoyment with water! My condolences to her friends and family.

  • Barb was a mentor, coach, teacher, and my friend. She impacted my life helping me build confidence as a teenager thru her leadership class in phys. Ed. She had such a positive calming spirit. She led a great life and never seemed to forget her students. Our deepest sympathies to family and friends.
