Arthur T. Morit, age 85 of Sunbury, died Wednesday afternoon at Delaware Court in Delaware,

He was born on June 24, 1927 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Arthur C. and Jean (Hansen) Morit. He was a WWII US Marine Corp Veteran and a retired Design Illustrator for AEP with 35 years of service retiring in 1991. He has lived in Sunbury for the past 30 years coming from Iselin, New Jersey. A member of St John Neumann Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Assembly 3262, VFW Post No. 3297, American Legion in New Jersey, and a former member of the Men’s Club at St John Neumann.

Art loved being with his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking especially tomato sauce, chili and anything Italian, fishing, playing pool, traveling and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Art sang in the choir at church where his booming voice was very recognizable and he lent his talent in art to decorating the church. Art was active in community theater groups and enjoyed music.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Frances Witt Morit and they were married February 17, 1962 in Hillside, New Jersey, children: Kerry Squire of Panama City Beach Fl., Brian (Denise) Morit of Frackville, Pa., Tracy Delia of Sunbury, Lori Morit of Sunbury, Davy (Jennifer) Morit of Worthington, Chris Morit of Lakewood, Scott (Bobette) Morit of Delaware, Joy (Daniel) Scott of Delaware; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son: Craig Morit; daughter-in-law: Diane Morit; brothers: Gary and Robert Morit.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m., prayer service 5 p.m., at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 SR 37 E., Sunbury with Fr. David Sizemore officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Blue Church Cemetery.
