Anne E. Taylor, 91, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010. She was born on February 14, 1919 to parents Harry and Louella Adams in Saxton, Pennsylvania and later the family relocated to Mount Vernon where Anne met her husband Charles (Charlie) Bentley Taylor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate Charlie and son Charles David, parents, brothers Arthur and Earnest Adams, sister Regna Butler, nieces Jerry (Jim) Crunkilton and Barbara Blackford and numerous friends. She leaves her daughter Kathryn (William) Glynn of Columbus, Ohio, granddaughter Marty (Rich) Murphy, grandchildren Drake and, Glendora Anne of Larkspur, California, great nieces and nephews, many friends in the Mount Vernon community and friends at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon. Anne and Charlie were active members of the Episcopal community for many years where Charlie served on the vestry and Anne was church secretary. After Charlie’s death in 1971, Anne briefly relocated to Columbus, Ohio and worked for the Ohio Secretary of State. Her love of Mount Vernon brought her back where she worked variously at Moundbuilders Guidance Center, the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, and – after retirement – volunteered at hospice services – Anne’s was a service centered career path. She enjoyed politics, reading, needlework, quilting, lively conversation, animals – particularly cats -, family vacations at Harmon’s Harbor Lake Erie shared with dear friends David and Marion McCluskey and their children, and later, while Charlie was still living, summer trips to the Maine coast with dear friends Reverend William and Ethel Haas. Her life was hallmarked by love of family, community, and animals.
The family requests that donations be made to the Knox County Humane Society in celebration of her life.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
