Alberta Helen Middleton, 89, of Delaware, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Kobacker House in Columbus after an extended illness.

The daughter of the late Lewis Leota and Mary Alice (Williams) Gall, Alberta was born March 4, 1928 in Hillsboro, Ohio. Alberta graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended The Ohio State University, where she became a practical nurse. She later went on to work at White Cross Hospital in Columbus and Jane M. Case Hospital in Delaware.

Having been raised in a family of faith, Alberta attended Asbury Methodist Church and taught Sunday school in her younger years. She was a member of The Salvation Army and the Sweet Adelines a capella singing group in Delaware. She met and married the love of her life, Ray Middleton, and they spent many wonderful years together before he passed in March 2009.

Alberta became a full time homemaker and an outstanding mother, raising her three sons William (Janice), Richard (Debbie), and Jay (Marta Kovach) Middleton. She is survived by grandchildren Isaac (Lara) Middleton, Skye (Dan) Saltsman, Christian Middleton, Carson (Abigail) Middleton, Andrew Middleton, Katie (Phillip) Hanson, Jayson (Tammi) Middleton, Valerie Middleton, Joshua (Sara) Middleton, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and special friend of the family, Eric Ferko.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alberta was preceded in death by brother, Eugene Gall and sister, Mary Katherine Mazzoil.

Alberta enjoyed being on Facebook, oftentimes checking in with her family and friends that she had out of state. She had a great time playing games with her family, and relished every moment that she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her family will miss her as the happy and caring person that she was.

Family and friends may call on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center 101 Valleyside Dr. Delaware, OH, 43015.

Chapel services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alberta’s name may be directed to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr., Columbus, OH or to The Salvation Army, Delaware, OH.
