Wilma Ilene Ink

MANSFIELD~ Wilma Ilene Ink, age 89, of Middle-Bellville Road, Mansfield, passed away Monday morning June 8, 2009 in the emergency room of MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
She was born June 2, 1920 in Mansfield to Harry H. and Nina G. (Farst) Wagner, and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1938.
On June 16, 1940 she married Charles E. Ink in the first wedding ceremony to take place in the former Trinity Evangelical Brethren Church on Kochheiser Road. Wilma and Charles remained active in the Trinity Church until it merged with the former Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church to create Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where they are still members.
A prayer warrior, Wilma served the congregation on the church prayer chain, and as song leader over 20 years. She also led the choir and played the organ for many happy years.
During WII Wilma aided the war effort by working with the Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company. After the War, she served as a housekeeper on the Black Estate.
She was a member and past president of Chestnut Chapel Community Club.
From 1959 to 1975 Wilma and Charles owned and operated the former Stewart’s Root Beer stand in Lexington.
In 1980 she and Charles began wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida at the Harborview Park. She served as secretary of the Harborview Park Homeowners Association, president of the Harborview Park Social Club, and chaired the Harborview Park Birthday Club. While in Florida, they were seasonal members of Cleveland United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, where she sang in the choir.
Remembered for her caring disposition, Wilma kept busy with crocheting projects. She made countless afghans for family and friends, as well as many donations for “Project Linus”.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years Charles Ink; daughters and sons-in-law Judy & Donald Snavely of Bellville and Pamela & Curtis Gerhart of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law Jack & Joyce Ink of Mansfield; grandchildren Brenda & Scott Gerhart, Karen & Scott Maglott, Diana & Robert Carlin and Bradley Snavely all of Bellville, Jason E. Ink, Julie & Cory Schnuerer, Nickolaus Gerhart all of Mansfield, and Joshua Gerhart of Ansonia, CT; 15 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and one anxiously awaited; a brother-in-law Walter Ink of North Canton; a sister-in-law Ruth Ink of Mansfield and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna & Larry Bilbee of Bellville; and her beloved church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Carleton Ink and a sister-in-law Violet Ink.
The Ink family will receive friends Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A worship service, giving glory to God for the life of Wilma Ink will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 3716 Bellville North Road, Bellville, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Beverly Hall. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
