His son Roger joined the company in 1973 and son-in-law, Marv Shaffer came on board in 1977. Evelyn worked by his side for 28 years as company secretary and treasurer. Virgil used his leadership skills serving on many church and civic boards including the Geauga County Hospital in Chardon, OH, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries in Norcross, GA, and served as president of the Highlands Lake Condominium Assoc. in Westerville, OH. Virgil was passionate about flying and earned an instrument rated pilot license and owned an airplane. He and Evelyn were also avid bowlers and a highlight for them was winning the Karl Road Baptist Church season bowling championship in 2001-2002. Virgil and Evelyn traveled extensively, including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Holy Land. One of his most cherished memories was when they had the rare opportunity to have a private visit with former President Ronald Reagan in 1997.
