Mansfield: William Theodore Viets, 94, of Curtis Drive, Mansfield, died Saturday morning July 27, 2002 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

He was born April 26, 1908 in Connersville, Pennsylvania to George and Janet (Steven) Viets and moved to the Mansfield area in 1945.

A lifetime member of the American Legion Post #16, he served his country as a Navy Seabee during World War II. William retired from Buckman Electric in 1964 where he had worked as an electrician.

Mr. Viets is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law Dorothy J. Grider of Louisville, Kentucky, and Barbara and Don Ute of Mansfield, nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred (Sell) Viets; two daughters Betty Noland and Jeane L. Fulton; an infant son William T. Viets; two brothers George Viets and Victor Viets; and a sister Janet Stephens.

Friends may call Monday July 29, 2002, from 6 to 8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 am. Pastor Steve Liming will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
