William Schafer Jr., age 75 of Delaware and formerly of Marion passed away at home Sunday, February 16, 2020.

He was born on January 16, 1945 in Cleveland to the late William Schafer Sr. and Margaret (Miko) Schafer.  A Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, he was a veteran of Vietnam War. Before retiring he worked in the insurance field with several different providers. He enjoyed travelling, eating out and the comradery of friends.

He is survived by sons: Michael (Amy) Schafer, Tom (Cynthia) Schafer, and grandchildren: Evan, Abby, Sophie, Jake, and Kristen.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Pat and sister Barbara Baker.

Services will not be observed. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.

  • He was a very good man. He cared deeply for others who were unfortunate. He wanted to leave this world a better place. He did 2 tours in Vietnam,he loved his country .
