William L. “Bill” Moran Jr., age 83, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born on February 25, 1933 in Newark, Ohio to the late William and Nellie (Gordon) Moran Sr. Bill was employed as a truck driver for Goss Landscaping in Granville. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #4027 Mount Vernon and was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, of over 42 years, Velma (Blakely) Moran; three sons, William (Elizabeth) Moran III, Steven (Sharon) Moran, Thomas Ward; three daughters, Kim (Mike) Laughlin, Nancy (Greg) Smith, Jackie (Eddy) Evans; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (Joseph) Pinell and Sharon (Ron) Burson; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date.
