William L. McGinnis, 72 of Marion, formerly Delaware, died Wednesday morning at Marion General Hospital.

He was born in Rosedale, Ohio on January 4, 1930 to the late Gilbert K. and Alta C. (Jackson ) McGinnis. He was a retired supervisor for Columbia Gas Company and a lifetime Farmer in Union County. He had served 4 years in the US Navy and 8 years in the Naval Reserves. Active in community affairs, Member of Hiram Lodge #18 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, American Legion Post #162, AmVets Post #102, and the Elks Lodge. He was also an instructor for N.R.O.T.C. program at OSU and Naval Reserve Training Center in Columbus.

Survived by his Wife of 45 years: Joyce A. (Marine) McGinnis and they were married on April 21, 1957; Daughter and Son-in-law: Sharon and Patrick Moore of Geneva, Fl; Sister Norma Castanien of Marion; Nieces and Nephews. Great Nieces and Nephews.

Preceded in death by a Son Thomas W. McGinnis in 1970.

Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street (SR 36), Delaware where Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with Revs. Daniel Kiger and Carol Green officiating. Interment will follow in the York Center Cemetery.
