William Joseph “Bill” Ballenger, Jr. age 61, of Marion, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home after battling stomach cancer.

Bill was born in Marion, Ohio on May 3, 1958 to the late William Joseph and Faith Marian Ballenger Sr. and attended Ridgedale Schools. Bill worked for more than 35 years at Whirlpool where he was a mold-setter. While working at Whirlpool, Bill met Denise Hope Jordan and the two were wed on April 10, 1998.  Denise preceded Bill in death on March 26, 2008.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his brothers taking trips to a cabin in Canada where they would hunt, fish, and drink Miller Lite.  Bill’s house was the go to for any get-together, especially an OSU game and friends were always welcome.  Bill’s true passion in life was his 7 grandchildren and children who he would do anything for.

Bill will be missed by his daughter, Samantha (John) Baylous of Marion; stepchildren, Jody and Thomas Mahaffey; grandchildren Jackson Tackett, Aaliyah, Tyson, Zayden, and Braxton Baylous, Alexia Blanton, and Alysa Mahaffey; girlfriend, Fran Kirk; siblings, Terry (Tom) Robbins, John Ballenger II, Brian (Lynn) Ballenger, Scott (Cammie) Ballenger, and Patrick (Traci) Ballenger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel (347 W. Center St.) on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9 until 11 am.  A funeral service will follow at 11 am and burial will take place at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
