William Glenn Buck

September 08, 1981 ‒ August 11, 2015

Fredericktown, Ohio

William Glenn Buck, age 33, of Fredericktown, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his residence with his loving family by his side, after a year and a half battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on September 8, 1981 in Mount Vernon, OH, to Stephen C. and Catherine Ann (Smith) Buck.

Starting at the age of 16, Glenn worked as a landscape and manual labor for TruGreen and Turf Doctor. Glenn was recognized as one of the hardest-working members of any staff he joined. He received the “Iron Man” in 2009 at Turf Doctor, for his work ethic and dedication. A stand-out football player, Glenn was known by his friends as one of the most athletic of the group, as well as the most fun-loving and caring. He was a proud alumnus of Fredericktown High School.

When not spending time with his family, one of his favorite hobbies was fishing. A master angler, Glenn loved catching walleye and perch at Lake Erie with his cousin Anthony Hunter.

Glenn will forever be remembered as an exceptional athlete. A fun-loving guy that everyone loved to be around… no matter the person. You will forever struggle to find someone more likeable than Glenn Buck. Of all his hobbies and talents… Glenn was born to be a daddy. His family and friends will forever remember how natural he was at being with his son Oliver.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Carrie (Huddlestun) Buck; a son, William Oliver “Ollie” Buck; his mother, Ann Buck; father, Stephen Buck; a brother, Lucas Buck.

Glenn is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sherman and Jane Ann Smith; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Manzie Buck.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church; 123 Columbus Rd, Fredericktown, OH 43019, with Pastor Ruth Douglas officiating.

  • I feel heart broken. I never knew Glenn outside of my job @ Dean’s Jewelry. However, from the moment he walked in our store in 2011 to buy an engagement ring, I felt close with him. He had a magnetic personality that just drew me to him and made me instantly like him. He had so much love for Carrie and I delighted in hearing the stories of their love. Over the years I have had the pleasure of meeting Carrie and she is as wonderful as the stories he told of her. Then came the sweet baby. Glenn’s eyes sparkled with pride when he would talk about him. My heart felt condolences to his family. He will be sadly missed and heaven gained an angel. RIP my dear friend.

  • Steve, Ann, Lucas, Carrie, and Ollie,

We cannot express our sympathy enough, for your loss. I know Glenn will be missed by many friends and family. We will be keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time. HUGS…

  • Dear Buck Family:

Our thoughts and prayers are for your family at this time. We didn’t know Glenn, but remember that our daughter went to school from Kindergarten until 6 grade then we moved away.
We went to school with Ann and was so glad to see her this summer, and we enjoy seeing her pictures of her family on facebook now.
May the Lord give you comfort and peace at this time and that he has welcome Glenn into his new home in heaven, where you will see him again and no longer in pain or sick.
    Rich and Janet Hiles

  • Dear Steve, Ann, and Lucas,

We are so sad to hear about Glenn’s death and you all have our complete sympathy. It seems unreal that I just saw both of you two just a little over a week ago and then to come home and hear about this is very sad. I honestly didn’t think this wouldn’t happen as soon as it did. You know I’m particularly thinking about the both of you, and I’m glad we got to talk about this extensively while I was there.

Ann and Steve, please know if there is anything we can do for you to let us know. We will be here for you anytime you need us. You both might want to think about a Florida vacation soon at our house if you like to take a break.

    Love ,
    Mark and Becky

One of which could never be forgotten. There may not be much to ease the pain but know that I and many others are praying for your comfort and understanding.

  • Our deepest sympathy to all of your family during this difficult time. We are the couple who took in Lucas when he moved to LA, and we were with Lucas through the tough days of Glenn’s disease. If Glenn was half the man Lucas is he was amazing! And from all the great FaceTime conversations we overheard, we know the memory of Glenn will live on through his adorable son. There are no words to take the pain away, but sweet memories and holding on to one another will definitely help. Glenn, RIP, and thank you for sharing your brother with us! The stories he shared of how much he adores you are priceless!

  • Glenn was one of a kind and it was an honor to know him. May you all find peace during this difficult time. Much love to you all.

  • Dear Buck Family,
I am sorry for your difficult loss. I had the honor of getting to know Lucas while we both worked at Otterbein. He is one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure to call friend. Although I have never met Glenn, I feel as though I have met all of you because of Lucas’ ability to retell stories and “make you feel as though you were there”. I hope the Buck parents can find comfort in knowing they raised two remarkable young men. I hope Glenn’s wife and son are able to find comfort in knowing how deeply loved they are by Glenn. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

  • I did not know your son Ann but I remembered you and I felt bad when I heard that your son had passed away. My sympathies to you and your entire family.

  • Steve, Ann, and Lucas,

RIP Glenn, it’s never goodbye, it’s see you on the other side. Ann, lots of hugs, I know how proud you are of your boys.

  • Bucks,
I wanted to share a memory of Glenn 30 years ago that makes me smile every time I think about it…Glenn was to be the ring bearer in Keith and I’s wedding. He wanted no part of coming down that aisle, so Ann went to take his hand to help him along the way. I am sure his whole life was filled with that kind of support and guidance because of who you and your family are. I am truly sorry at his passing.
    Sonia Brown
