William E. Delbauve, age 84, of Mount Vernon died Thursday January 10, 2002, at the Country Club Center Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. William was born September 18, 1917 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania and moved to Utica in 1946 and to Mount Vernon in 1950. He served as a Staff Sergeant with the 8th Air Force, 346th Bomb Group, 462nd Squardon during World War II. Following the war William worked as a Glass Cutter for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries in Mount Vernon.

He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. William was a life member of the Veterans of Forigen Wars, a member of the Moose Lodge both in Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Glass, Moulders, Pottery, Plastic and Allied Workers of America AFL-CIO. William was an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer.

Surviving are his three daughters Loretta (Robert) Fox of Branford, Conn., Patricia Devecka of Devon, Penn., and Helen (Thomas) Hatton of Mount Vernon; 7 grandchildren including Lisa George Clipse of Mount Vernon; 5 great grandchildren; and his two sisters Mary Margaret Calabrese of New Jersey and Rosemary Anderson of Pennsylvania. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Erma (Melesic) Delbauve, a brother and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 AM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Father Ted Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
