William H. “Bill” Doup, age 63, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday December 17, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer, Bill was born June 12, 1946 in Knox County to Earl E. and Pauline L. (Apple) Doup and had spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He attended Amity School and was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He had been employed for Grumman Flxible Company in Loudonville for nearly 30 years.
Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #140 in Mount Vernon where he volunteered for many activities especially Friday Night Bingo. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and Bill especially enjoyed watching his nephews participate in sporting activities. Bill was always one to help out and was the neighborhood handyman.
Surviving are his wife Saundra “Sunny” (Meharry) Doup; his daughter Kimberly (Andrew) Humbert of Mount Vernon; his sister Barbara Thatcher of Walhonding; his brothers Richard (Shirley) Doup of Howard, James (Phyllis) Doup of Richwood and Paul (Marilyn) Doup of Anchorage, Alaska; and his canine companion “Sam”.
Friends may call Monday from 2pm to 4pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon where services will follow the calling hours.
