Willa Jean Peck

November 10, 1928 ‒ September 02, 2017

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: For Willa Peck, gardening was a connection with her past, and her future. A hundred-year-old rose bush from her grandparent’s farm deserved her attention; cuttings and nurturing kept the blossoms, and the memory of her ancestors, alive for new generations. She really loved the Springtime: when she could break forth from the dead of winter to the beauty of her gardens.
Willa broke to a new level of glorious gardens, as she passed into the Lord’s care Saturday evening September 2, 2017 from Kingston of Ashland surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.
The daughter of Andrew and Adah (Watson) Yeager, Willa was born November 10, 1928 in Logan County, West Virginia and graduated from Logan High School.
With a strong sense of community, Willa was active in her Neighborhood Watch. She enjoyed crocheting, made many afghans, and for decades crocheted Christmas stockings for fourth-graders, students of her daughter Jeanette Walls at Johnsville Elementary School.Willa was also a member of the Linden Road Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughter Jeanette (Dennis) Walls of Mansfield and son Rod (Betty) Peck of Charlotte, North Carolina: three grandchildren David (Stephanie) Walls, Meghan (Michael) Needham, and Brian Peck; great grandchildren Lauren, Nick, Andrew, and Christopher; brother Cleon Yeager of Proctorville; cherished friend William “Bill” Crane.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Blaine Peck, who passed away in 1993, as well as her sister Zorita White.

Her family will receive friends Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 10-11:30am in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 11:30am.  Pastor Tom Roepke and Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Presbyterian Women Association (Pots and Pans Ministry) may be made through the funeral home.
