Wilbur Gene ”Bert” Travis, age 83, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, surrounded by his three daughters, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday May 16, 2007 at the Rose Garden Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. He was born on April 16, 1924 in Havana, Illinois to the late Bert and Belva (Sigley) Travis. He was a dedicated minister, serving in several states for many years.
He is survived by his three daughters Ruth Anne (Larry) Huffstutler of Fredericktown, Patricia Ann (Russell) Dunaway of Cincinnati, Judy Kay (David) Brough of Louisville Kentucky, a brother Richard (Connie) Travis of Illinois, along with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years JoAnne Travis, two brothers Delbert and Don Travis and two sisters Carol Fischer and Bea Reed.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Saturday May 26, 2007 at 11 AM at the Palmyra Church of Christ in Fredericktown, Ohio where he ministered in the 1950’s. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the 11AM service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Palmyra Church of Christ.
