Washington Court House, formerly of Shenandoah, Ohio

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE~ Shenandoah native Wesley C. Haught, age 82, was called by God to his heavenly home on Friday morning November 7, 2008.

He was born December 7, 1925 in Chester, West Virginia to Denver and Golye (Foraker) Haught, and moved to the Ashland County area from Monroe County in 1944.

Wesley took a job delivering feed for the J. L. Donley Elevator. While making a delivery to the farm of Vernon and Emma Wolford he caught a glimpse of their daughter Marilyn. He and Marilyn were married June 13, 1948, set their home in Shenandoah, and were blessed with three children.

He continued to work for the elevator a total of 25 years before taking a position with the Ohio Department of Transportation, Parks Division, from which he retired in 1991.

A member of the Shenandoah Christian Church since 1949, Wesley was a pillar of the church for half a century. He served the Lord by serving the congregation as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and in many other capacities.

Rooted deep in Christian values, Wesley raised his family in a good Christian home, and saw to it that they were raised in the church.

His humility was genuine, Wesley always put other’s needs before his own, and he was a strong man with an amazing faith in the Lord.

Wesley enjoyed reading both current events and histories, but his Bible studies and Sunday school curriculum got most of his attention.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca & William Vance of Washington Court House, Cynthia & Glen LeBlanc of Hudson, FL; grandchildren and their spouses Michael & Shannon Slone, Bryan & Carrie Butler and Shannon & Silas Rooker; six great grandchildren; and a brother Don Haught.

He was preceded in death by a son Douglas in 2004, his parents Denver Haught and Golye Haught Norris, sisters Beulah Haught and Deloris Goon.
