Wayne I. Nelson, 85, formerly of 408 N. Columbus Street, Galion, died Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Center in Galion.

Born January 30, 1920 in Galion, he was the son of the late Calvin O. Nelson and Martha M. Miller Nelson. He married Emma “Marie” Schifer Nelson on June 22, 1943. She preceded him in death May 26, 1998.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1939 and served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II where he was a tower operator in the Pacific Theatre. He was a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church where he sang in the church choir. He played the clarinet and was a member of the Galion High School Alumni Band and the American Legion Band. He was a member of Galion Lodge 414 Free and Accepted Masons, Galion Chapter 142 Royal Arch Masons; a 32nd Degree member of Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; the Galion Shrine Club and Aladdin Temple Shrine Valley of Columbus. He retired from Galion Dresser after many years where he worked as a General Clerk in the Production Planning Department.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Ron Keller officiating. Burial will be next to his wife at Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
