Wanda L. Chase

April 01, 1939 ‒ May 13, 2015

Crestline, Ohio

CRESTLINE: No one had to teach Wanda L. Chase to cook. Her ability to cook and bake was just one of the many things in which she excelled. Each Thanksgiving season invited the smell of fresh homemade pumpkin rolls. This was one of her labors of love she shared with her family.

Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 1, 2015 she passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in her home in Crestline. She was 76.

She was born April 1, 1939 to parents Raymond & Glenna (Keefer) Terman in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield Senior High with the class of 1957.

It was a church youth group Halloween party where she would first meet a young guy to which she would take a liking. On June 27, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart William “Bill” Chase and together they spent 57 wonderful years.

Wanda worked at Crestview schools as a custodian and was a “grandma” to lots of the kids who went there. She continued to work there for over 25 years until retiring in April 1998.

In her spare time, she took pleasure in baking many different desserts. From apple dumplings to cinnamon rolls to her famous pumpkin rolls, she was a gifted baker. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers as well as cookie jars.

In addition to her loving husband she is survived by children Raymond (Peggy) Chase, Greg (Marsha) Chase and Kim (Paul) Brown all of Mansfield; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters Beverly (James) Witzky of Apple Valley and Romanta (Wayne) Detrow of Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Chase family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18 from 10-11 a.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service honoring her life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Smals officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Contributions in her memory to MedCentral Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
