Walter L. Dennis

Walter L. Dennis, 74, of Galion, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1938 in Toledo, he was the son of the late William Paul and Agnes Marie Yager Dennis. He married Sally K. Kuebbeler Dennis on Aug. 13, 1960 who survives.
He was a graduate of Maumee High School in 1956 and graduated from Purdue University in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Education. He retired from Sprint Telephone Company in Mansfield in 1988 after nine years where he worked in toll revenues. Prior to that he worked at ITT/North Electric for 18 years where he worked in sales engineering. After his retirement he drove school bus for Northmor School District for 10 years.
Walt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Galion Elks Lodge 1191. He was an instrument rated commercial pilot and owned and flew his own private airplanes based out of the Galion Municipal Airport. Walt enjoyed his own workshop and according to him he “could fix anything except broken marriages!” Walt played the trumpet and coronet in Mansfield for 20 years and in the Gang Band in Tiffin for three years after that.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Rick Rankin of Tigard, Ore.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sandy Dennis of Maumee, Donald and Mary Lou Dennis of Maumee, Duane and Lynn Dennis of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Wayne Dennis of Maumee.
At Walt’s request, no visitation or funeral service will be held.
