Walter G. Beltz, age 88, of Marengo died at the Bennington Glen Nursing Home in Marengo, Friday evening, September 29, 2006
He was born in Marion, Ohio on March 31, 1918 to the late Walter Sr. and Elizabeth (Andrews) Beltz. Walter attended Marion Harding High School, and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. A proud Veteran of WW II, he was stationed in England and Scotland. He was also a lifetime member and 60 year member of the American Legion Post #710 in Marengo. A true patriot, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting mushrooms.
He is survived by his Daughter: Audrey (Jim) Condron of Mt. Gilead, Daughter-in-law: Lois Irwin of Dupont, Colorado, Grandchildren: Lori (Dan) Hammond, Greg (Penny) Condron, Amy (Matt) Decker, Glenda (Harry) Emmons, Jody (Dan) Meredith, Lisa (Jim) Davis, Michael (Tori) Irwin, and Terry (Dawn) Irwin, 16 Great-Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Brothers: Carl (Janice) Beltz of Mt. Gilead, Sisters: Imogene Turner of Batesville, Indiana, and Jaunita Pruitt of Ash, North Carolina, Brother-in-law: Alfred Miller of Cardington, and Sister-in-law: Ruth Beltz of Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife of 48 years: Florence (Fraizer) Beltz on July 27, 1999, Son: Glen Irwin, Brother: Harvey Beltz, and Sisters: Dorothy Ghenco and Emma Miller.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229, Marengo. Graveside services will be conducted by the honor guard and chaplain of American Legion Post #710 on Wednesday morning 10:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery, SR 42, Cardington.
