W. Reed Epler

W. Reed Epler, age 91, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

He was born on September 13, 1924 in Central College, Ohio to the late Guy and Doris (Smith) Epler. Reed was employed and retired from Cooper Energy Services. He was also a bank currier for numerous years at the First Knox National Bank. Reed was a lifetime member of the Milford Church of Christ where he was a past deacon. He was a 4-H advisor, was a member of the American Legion Post #888 and was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed mowing his lawn on his John-Deere tractor but most of all he loved the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, of nearly 69 years, Miriam (Thompson) Epler; two daughters Linda Hanna of Mount Vernon, Debi Epler of Mont Vernon; his son Michael Epler of Northfield; three grandchildren Michael (Holly) Hanna, Jeremy (Dawn) Hanna, Heidi (Curtis) Wagner; five great grandchildren; his sister Kathleen Moreland of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Reed was preceded in death by his sister Juanita McKee.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 beginning at 2PM at the Milford Church of Christ with Rev. Don Linn officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of W. Reed Epler.

We so enjoyed our last visit with you and Reed at Kohl’s in Newark and were so glad that we had ran into you both and got up to date on a lot of time that had pasted us by.
