W. Frances Myers, age 95, of Mount Vernon, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. Frances was born January 16, 1915 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to Martin and Minnie (Smith) Jones. She moved to Marion, Ohio with her family and graduated from Marion Harding High School. After high school, she moved to Mount Vernon where she retired from Mount Vernon High School as head of the food services.

Frances was a member of the First Church of God, 1 Pine Street, Mount Vernon. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, AMVETS Auxiliary, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and Order of Eastern Star all in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her daughter Wilma Rosan Myers of Mount Vernon; her son Lewis A. (Debra) Myers II of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and her sisters Mary Margaret Croner of Columbus and Barbara Jeanette Byrd of Mount Vernon. Besides her parents Frances was preceded in death by her husband Lewis A. Myers I, a son Maurice Jones, a sister Alice Helen Oglesbee and brothers Sherman Eugene Jones and Dr. James Martin Jones.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon with Rev. William Fulda officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 hours before the funeral service.
