W. Bruce Iles

W. Bruce Iles, 78, of Galion passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Galion Hospital after a recent illness.

He was born August 26, 1938 in West Norwood, Kentucky and was the son of William B. and Mabel (Hinklin) Iles-Lindley. On November 7, 1957 he married Mary Anne Aten and they enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage.

Bruce was a 1956 graduate of Galion High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked over 40 years for Fisher Printing in Galion and later with Herald Printing in New Washington retiring in 2000. Bruce was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion. He was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan and had previously enjoyed golfing and bowling. But most importantly, Bruce will be remembered as a good husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Stephen (Anna Marie) Iles of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Gerri A. (Edgar) Merida of Metairie, Louisiana, Scott (Kim Fields) Iles of Caledonia and Larry (Malinda) Iles of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Shirley Sickmiller of Galion and Mary Pappas of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-father James Lindley; brothers Elton Eugene Iles and Don M. Iles and a daughter-in-law Hyong Sun Iles.

The family will have a private funeral service and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church of Galion or Magnolia Community Services of Jefferson, Louisiana in care of the funeral home.
