Vivien Ebie, age 92, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Canton, died Sunday July 4, 2010 at the Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon. Vivien was born November 14, 1917 in Berlin, Pennsylvania to Stewart and Helen Grace (Jones) Fritz. During the Korean War, Vivien worked for the Hoover Corporation in North Canton and for 20 years served as a volunteer “Gray Lady” for the American Red Cross at Mercy Hospital and Altman Hospital both in Canton.
She was a member of the Warsaw Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Order Of Eastern Star in Canton for over 65 years.
Surviving are her husband Carl Ebie whom she married July 29, 1936; her daughter Carlyn Drewyor of Hobe Sound, Florida; her son Daniel (Anne) Ebie of Grapevine, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her brother Phillip Fritz of Berlin, PA and her sister Marjorie Meese of Berlin, PA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Ebie a sister Jacqueline Kemp and brothers Stewart Fritz and Raymond Duff.
Funeral services will be Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 11 am at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the funeral service. Graveside committal services will be Wednesday at 2:30 PM at North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.
