Virginia Ward, age 95, of Upland Terrace, Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday October 25, 2005 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on December 4, 1909 in Clinton County, Ohio to the late William Arthur and Mattie Lenora (Albright) Siders. Virginia was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist where she had served as church school secretary and was very active in the Varsity Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Pleasant Grange and Tan and Toil Garden Club. Virginia had worked as a seamstress for Rudins Department Store.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Ward of Bozeman, Montana, a son-in-law Orla Conard of Mount Vernon, six grandchildren, Karen Seward, Colleen Hicks, Kathy Culwell, Scott Ward, Sandy Archer and Shawn Ward, ten great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Ward, a son, William Dean Ward, a daughter, Wilma Jean Conard, two brothers, Walter Siders and Don Siders and a sister, Ann Hodson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 N. Gay Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Dr. David Baker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
