Virginia Taite Chapman, age 93 of Ostrander, formerly of Marysville, passed away early Sunday morning, April 15th at Wesleyan Way of Delaware Court Care Center. She was born December 13, 1913 in Cleveland, OH the only child of Harry Lynde and Clarissa Ann Denison Taite. She lived most of her life in central Ohio, was a graduate of Hyatts High School Class of 1931, and was an Ohio Wesleyan graduate, Class of 1935 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Home Economics Club. While a student at Hyatts and OWU she excelled at playing basketball. After graduating in 1935, she married Russell W. Chapman on June 12, 1935, his mother’s birthday. She was very active in the Hyatts Methodist Church teaching Sunday School and playing piano, and participated in the Crusaders Group. She was leader of youth groups and went with them on numerous trips. She attended all the activities of her children, helping in any way that she could. She enjoyed playing piano for family get-togethers. She moved to the Marysville area in the early 1950’s where she joined the First Methodist Church of Marysville, where she was active in women’s groups, again helping whenever and however she could. She especially enjoyed the King’s Daughters evening women’s circle at the church. She worked in the Quality Assurance Lab for Nestle’s of Marysville for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at the Heartland Convalescent Center of Marysville. She collected lighthouses of all kinds and all sizes, loved to collect all kinds of rocks, gems, and sea shells, and she loved to work with stained glass which she lovingly gave to her family and is cherished by all who received one of these works. She is survived by 2 daughters Betty Ann (Earl J.) Bringardner of Delaware and Janet C. Kelley and her companion Jerry Mossman of Ostrander; 10 grandchildren Michael W. (Debbie) Schuette, Roger L. (Debbie) Schuette, Kathy L. Glasburn, J. Marvin Schuette, James D. Bringardner, Linda S. (Chuck) Lowry, Terri (Mike) Schindewolf, K. Scott (Karen) Kelley, Brad Kelley, and Mike (Debbie) Kelley; 2 granddaughters-in-law Debbie Schuette and Beth McCarver; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; 3 grandchildren Kenneth Mark Schuette, Russell Paul Schuette, and Cinda Lou Kelley in infancy. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00 PM at RODMAN NEEPER FUNERAL HOME, BENNETT BROWN DELAWARE CHAPEL, 1510 W. William St., where the family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Rev. Richard Teller of First Methodist Church of Marysville will officiate. The family will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Community Room.
