Virginia M. Callender

Virginia M. Callender, 92, of 410 Hastings Lane, Elizabeth City, N.C. and formerly of Galion, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Born in Galion, Dec. 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Resch and Maud Strippy Resch. She was preceded in death on July 10, 1997 by her husband, Gene R. Callender whom she married on June 25, 1938.
She co-owned the Wee Folk Shop children store with her husband, was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Galion, a member of Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary and loved to garden. She moved to North Carolina from Galion last November.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda “Min” and Albert Del Garbino of Shiloh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Heather Rushing and her husband Travis of Charlotte, N.C. and Matthew Del Garbino of Indianapolis, Ind. and a sister, Margaret Richardson of Maryville, Tenn.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl A. Callender; two sisters, Velma Reece and Harriet Dick and a brother, Robert Resch.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005 at First Lutheran Church, 127 S. Columbus St., Galion, where services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Timothy Keeler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery next to her husband.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, Galion.
