Virgil A. “Bubbles” Powell

February 07, 1943 ‒ November 16, 2014

Ashley, Ohio

Virgil A. “Bubbles” Powell, age 71 lifelong Ashley resident passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Riverside Hospital.

Born on February 7, 1943 at the family homestead in Oxford Township, he was a son of the late Howard A. and Annie M. (Skaggs) Powell. Quiet in nature he always put the needs of others before his own. He treasured his family, especially his parents whom he cared for until their passing.

For the past 16 years he worked as a sales associate with Tractor Supply Company in Delaware and absorbed his fellow employees into his deep sense of family.  His sense of humor and enjoyment of life was bigger than life itself. Always hardworking, he enjoyed the outdoors and tending to his yard.

Virgil was always the “big kid” in the family who made very special bonds with all his nieces and nephews. He was the favorite Uncle riding mini-bikes, dirt bikes, motorcycles or snowmobile’s right along beside them.  If it had a motor, he liked it. Virgil never let a handicap deter him from doing anything anyone else could do.  He also possessed a soft spot for all animals.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved siblings Ruth Wigton of Mt. Gilead, Kendall (Janet) Powell of Cardington, Harold (Ruby) Powell of Ashley, Michael Powell of Ashley, Teresa (David) Staats of Delaware, 18 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was also proceded in death by brother-in-laws Bernard “Jay” Ewart and Ernest Wigton.

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bennett, Brown, Rodman & Snyder Funeral Home, 307 E.
