Virgil Clyde Mitchell III, age 37 of Delaware and Fredericktown passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Delaware.

He was born on April 27, 1976 at Grady Memorial Hospital and graduated in 1994 from Delaware Hayes High School. Virgil was the owner/operator of V III Concrete. Skilled with his hands in the construction trade, he was hard working and could build anything from the ground up.

Loyal and strong, he was described as the “rock with a heart of gold”. Always quick witted, he possessed a humorous goofy streak. He attended Second Baptist Church and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association.

Virgil enjoyed a passion for cars, trucks, and quads, his favorite being the black “69 Chevy Chevelle SS. He also favored yard sales and flea markets, always looking for a bargain to flip. Strong spirited, as he liked to put it “keep it movin”. Happiest with family and pouring concrete, he was a friend and Super Hero to all.

He is survived by parents: Bobbie (Burroughs) and Greg “Carter” Carter, Virgil C. Mitchell II, companion: Roxanne Peffers and their children: Clai, Chevelle, Laila, Clyde Mitchell and Ava Peffers, daughter Brittany Mitchell and her mother Rosalind McGary, son Cassius and his mother Tasha Heineman, sisters: Ashla Carter, Cassandra Carter, Latoya Mitchell, nephew: Jamari Carter, paternal grandparents: Snobia Mitchell, Revella (Larry) Wilson, maternal grandparents: Betty (Jim) Burroughs, Helena Carter, special friend and mother of his first child: Rosalind McGary, childhood brothers: Jason Kraus, Chuckie Bondurant, Annan Rhea, Kyle Shaw, Derrick Shaw, Ian Lloyd and a host of aunts, uncles and extended friends and family.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Virgil Mitchell I and Robert Burroughs.

Friends may call 10:00-1:00 pm on Monday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware where services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lamont Coates officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers his family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
