Virgie Arlene Edington, age 85 of Marion, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.

Virgie was born May 28, 1936 in Marion, the daughter of Joseph Cyrus and Verna Mae (Hartley) White.

Virgie was united in marriage to her soulmate and love of her life, Howard Earl Edington. Together they made an unstoppable team, lovingly raising their 5 children. Virgie was the epitome of a devoted homemaker; her love for her family was unmeasurable, especially when it came to the grandchildren. Whatever her children were interested in, she too was equally interested. Sunday family dinners and especially holiday dinners with the entire family filled her heart with joy. Trips to the casino, trying new restaurants, and travel were all things Virgie enjoyed doing with family. Above all, family always came first and she gave each and every one the gift of unconditional love.

She is survived by her children: Larry (Janice Johnson) Edington, Gloria (Doug Phipps) Edington, Mari (Daniel) Sander, Tammy (the late Bruce) Krist, and Amber (Rick) Thompson; grandchildren: Stacy Edington, Aaron (Kathy) Edington, Josh (Courtney) Edington, Misti Edington, Howie (Deb) Baldwin, Bryce Gear, Dylan Gear, Shaun (Billie Jo) Edington, Cassaundra (Brent) Southard, Kayla (Ryan Tropp) Edington, Brittany (Zane Oakes) Edington, DJ Combs and Mackie Frye; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and siblings: Hershel White, Clayton “Butch” White, and Mary Cooper.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Edington and siblings: Joseph Jr., Warren, Verlon, James and Dan White.

Visitation will be Monday, July 19, 2021 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 West Center St., Marion from 11:30AM to 1:30PM; funeral service will follow at 1:30PM with burial in Caledonia Cemetery.

  • I wish we could of reconciled our difference I loved my grandmother to pieces i have such wonderful memories wish she an my children could of got to know each other better. Ill never forget her enchiladas they was the best ever i try to make them but not as good as she did an her chicken noodles she will always be my granddmother noone can take tht from me or the memories i carry with me and im thankful for that.
