Violet D. Monska, age 73 of Ostrander passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on July 11, 1941 in Sunbury to the late Clifford Gross and Cora (Ball) Gross Riley. A longtime member of Bellpoint United Methodist Church, she served as a volunteer for Grady Memorial Hospital.

For many years Violet taught ceramics. She loved cats and all animals. A wonderful cook, it was hard to pick a favorite as everything that she made was good. With a helpful spirit, she was always willing to help. Gifted with a needle and thread, she enjoyed quilting, mending things and making blankets for the Humane Society. She also enjoyed flowers and the Smoky Mountains.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Kenneth, daughters Teresa Lynne Monska, Lori Ann Monska both of Delaware, grandson Benjamin VanBuskirk, great-grandchildren Justin and Haylee, and brother Larry Gross.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers Paul, Doug, and David Gross.

Friends may call 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Bellpoint United Methodist Church, 4771 St Rt 257, Delaware, Ohio 43015 where services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul McCullough officiating, burial will follow in Thompson Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio Health Hospice.
