Viola May ‘Vi’ (Huffman) Rowland, age 65, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Marion General Hospital,  after a short illness.

Vi was born in Marion, Ohio, on March 6, 1956, to Donald R. and Mildred (Poe) Huffman and attended Marion City Schools.  On March 11, 1974 Vi married Paul R. Rowland Sr., after meeting two weeks earlier in Downtown Marion.

In the past, Vi worked for Meijer and Silver Line. She enjoyed traveling with her husband while he drove semi-tractor. While riding, she would often take photos of the scenery and even tornados. In younger years, Vi enjoyed bowling, fishing and riding in Paul’s 1966 Plymouth Satellite.

Vi will be missed by her husband, Paul Sr.; children, Paul (Teresa) Rowland, Jr., and Jeremy Rowland; granddaughter, Carlie Rowland; mother, Mildred;   sister, Linda (Brad) Norton; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Alfred) Walter and Lois Huffman; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Vi was preceded in death by her father, Donald; sister, Barb; and nephews, Peter and Raymond Norton; half-brother Donald Huffman Jr., mother-in-law Ruth A. Rowland and brother-in-law Francis D. Huffman I.

Visitation will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel (347 West Center St.) on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 4 until 7 pm.  A funeral will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 pm on Wednesday with Pastor Mark Schuring officiating.  Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Donations may be made in Vi’s honor to The Rowland Family for final expenses or the charity of the donor’s choice.

We all had alot of family nights together when I was younger, they were always laughing and playing cards. I know my mother loved Aunt Vi very much. I never forget her smile.
