Veronica Marie Shane, age 76 of Richwood, OH, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Friendship Village, Westerville, 11 years after the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Detroit, MI on February 4, 1926 to the late Dominic and Alexandra Buslowicz. While attending school in Detroit, Marie worked as a chemist where she met her late husband, William E. Shane Jr., who served as manager of Penwalt Chemicals in Delaware, OH for 30 years. Following graduation from Ohio State University with a B.S. in education, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education and taught school in North Union School District.

Marie was an avid gardener and instilled a love of all living things in her family through camping, walking and gardening. She loved reading and left a legacy of literature in all those who knew her. But most of all Marie loved children and devoted herself with a passion to her family, leaving behind and inheritance of love that lives on in those she touched.

Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delaware and was preceded in death by her parents, Sister; Eleanor Prokop, Dearborn, MI, brother; Dr. Henry Jankowski, London, Ontario.

Survived by her children: Kathryn Shane-Kumler, Seattle, WA, Rebecca Loach, Columbus, William Shane, III, Richwood, Jonathan Shane, Richwood, Patricia Hardwick, Columbus, and Richard Shane, Cable, Grandchildren; Heidi Neagles, Heather Zinn, Heidi Gonzalez, Michael Joseph, Jennifer, Natalie, and William Shane, Laura Burbaugh, Alex and Keely Hardwick, Great-grandchildren: Kirsten Neagles, Kiana and Cheyenne Gonzalez, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 1:00 p.m., April 5, at St. Mary’s Church in Delaware, OH, Fr David Sizemore Celebrant. Interment Claibourne Cemetery in Richwood. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 on Friday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio.
