Venus A. Henson, 57, of Lexington died Saturday evening January 13, 2007 in the Mifflin Care Center in Mansfield after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 17, 1949 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky the daughter of the late Peter Lee and Dixie Ellen (Brown) Johnson.

A nearly lifelong member of the area Venus will be remembered as a strong willed intelligent woman who played a very large role in the raising of her four sons. She enjoyed time spent with her grandkids who remember her buying whole hamburgers, from McDonalds, for her Fox Terrier, Jada. Venus took great pride in her membership in the People’s Baptist Church in Mansfield, attending regularly.

She will be missed by her four sons, Curt and Hattie Johnson of Johnsville, Ohio, Shawn Johnson of Tampa, Florida, Brent (Eden) Johnson of Lexington, Ohio, and Tom Henson of Johnsville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Tyler, Eric, Melodie, Curtis, Trevor, and Gage Johnson; and a brother, Phillip Johnson of Florence, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Steven, Bill, and Bob Johnson.

At Mrs. Henson’s request cremation will take place and funeral services will not be observed.
