Velma C. Anderson

Velma Creta Anderson, age 89, of 16608 Wells Road, Mount Vernon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday February 26, 2002 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon following an extended illness. Velma was born January 10, 1913 in Monroe Township, Knox County, Ohio, to Harrison C. and Mame (Benson) Gleeson and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She was a life long member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Monroe Grange for 75 years. Velma retired from the A&P Grocery in Mount Vernon where she had worked for several years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years George E. Anderson whom she married January 19, 1936; her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Keith Hardesty of Odessa, Texas, and her granddaughter Jodi Lynn (Jim) Woeber of Dallas, Texas. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson Jason Edward Hardesty; 3 sisters Lulu Gleeson, Teresa Welker and Pauline Adams and 2 brothers Harold Gleeson and Virgil Gleeson.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 PM at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon with Rev. Earl Goodwin officiating. Friends may call at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Thursday from 5 to 8 PM and Friday one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
