Varion Jay “Slim” Wirick, 77, of 1125 E. Walnut St., Galion, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Apr. 1, 1930 in Morrow County, he was the son of the late Lester D. Wirick and Hattie I. West Wirick.

He was a graduate of Galion High School 1948 and attended Tiffin University. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and retired from Milliron Industries where he was a torcher. He previously worked at Luntz Corp. and Malo Brothers.

Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Tonya Wirick Phil Dennison of Mt. Gilead, Glory and Dave Van Dine of Galion, Teresa and Chris Lutz of Bucyrus and Hattie and Curt Johnson of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Summer, Melodie, David, Devin, Curtis, Seth and Joseph; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Wanda Wirick of Mansfield; two sisters, Violet Zachman of Galion and Blossom Furr of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Young.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday Nov. 9, 2007 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 with Rev. Gary L. Proietti officiating. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery, Johnsville.

Full military graveside services will be held by the Galion/Crestline area veteranÂ’s organizations and the United States Army.
