Delaware, Ohio

Valerie G. Mendenhall, 59, of Delaware passed away late Tuesday evening, April 6, 2021 at the Sarah Moore Nursing Home.

Valerie loved Spring Break vacations to Ft. Myers, Florida with her children and parents. She was a very loving mother who would do anything for her girls and grandkids. She enjoyed country music, the outdoors, her Brownies and OSU Buckeyes and Wednesday nights with the girls.

Valerie had a contagious smile and was a dear and special friend that also enjoyed theater plays, family gatherings, going out to dinner and a glass of WINE! She also enjoyed trips to Cleveland, shopping and walking in downtown Delaware.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 daughters, Amber Nicole Hawkinberry and Tonya Rae Phillips; grandchildren, twins Braxton and Mazie Hawkinberry and Cameron Clark; brother, Robin Mendenhall; and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her sister Lisa Mendenhall and special dear friend and love of her life Mike Ross.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services observed.

  • I was a classmate of Valerie – it’s been a longtime ago but I have such good memories. We “hung out” with a extortionary group of friend and did A LOT together – most Saturday nights! She was a beautiful girl, with a sweet spirit but often had things to add to every conversation.

God bless you old friend and your family you leave behind. May you all feel God’s peace for many days to come.

  • Rest in Heaven my dear sweetest Valerie. We had so many memorable times together, I love you like a sister and will miss you so much. As you always ask me “How’s Rick and the boys”? I will take good care of them honey. Enjoy your precious family in heaven. God bless your girls and grandkids here on earth.Until we meet again…..
