Treisa (Ruhl) Nedrow

February 07, 1968 ‒ November 05, 2014

Butler, Ohio

BUTLER: A friend to many in the Clear Fork Valley, Treisa (Ruhl) Nedrow’s quiet smile was genuine and heartfelt.  A successful coach, teacher, and mentor, much like Christ, Treisa selflessly dedicated her time and energy to those around her.  Strong in faith, on Wednesday November 5, 2014, Treisa kept her faith and finished her race after a valiant battle with cancer.  She was 46.

The daughter of Carl and Mary Ann (Kirkpatrick) Ruhl, Treisa was born February 7, 1968 in Mansfield.  Raised in Butler, she was always active and excelled at sports.  A three sport athlete, Treisa played volleyball, basketball, and softball.  Upon graduating Clear Fork High School in 1986, she was one of the best pitchers to have worn a Lady Colts uniform.   Recently Treisa was inducted into the Clear Fork Valley Athletic Hall of Fame.

Treisa’s success followed her to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University where she was a starting pitcher for the Cougars, and was inducted into the Mt. Vernon Nazarene University Wall of Fame.  Treisa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and began teaching locally.

For the past 22 years, Treisa has taught for the Clear Fork School District, teaching 4th grade and currently 2nd grade in Bellville.

For over 20 years, she has been a coach for the highly successful Lady Colts Varsity softball program.  A mentor to her players, she offered guidance from personal experience as a player herself. Hardworking and motivated, Treisa influenced her players in a way that reached far beyond the softball diamond.

A member of Crossroads Community Church, her strong faith was not bound by any physical condition or illness.  Treisa will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her daughter Kaeli Nedrow of Ontario; parents Carl and Mary Ann Ruhl of Butler; brothers and sisters-in-law Trevis and Tracey Ruhl of Fredericktown and Trent and Denise Ruhl of Butler; nephews and nieces Tyler, Tanner, Teegan, Morgan, and Macey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family; her best friend-Chocolate Lab, Lexi.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 12pm-7pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Monday at 11am in the sanctuary at CitiChurch, 541 State Route 97 West, Bellville, OH 44813.  Pastors Patrick Bailey and Ken Kinley will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to the Clear Fork Valley Athletic Hall of Fame or Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made through the funeral home.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Ruhl and family:

Words cannot express my sorrow hearing about the death of your daughter and my friend, Treisa. She will be greatly missed by all who have known her, including myself and my husband.

She was, no doubt, amongst the top 5 pitchers that ever put on a uniform for MVNU. I remember well the day I visited in your home and invited Treisa to join our team at the college level. I know she had other offers but it was a happy day, for me as the coach, when she signed with our University in Mount Vernon.

She was a wonderful girl to have on the team, not just for her pitching prowess but for her spirit of cooperation and positive attitude in every situation. She was a valuable athlete and student always.

While she will be greatly missed, it is comforting to me to know that she has made the crossing successfully. I can imagine that she is now teaching all the saints in Heaven how to throw the ultimate curve ball.

    Sincerely,

    Lora H. Donoho

  • Over the years, Treisa and my families lives had crossed paths many times. From being students at Clear Fork, together as mothers watching our young daughters perform their gymnastics, Treisa coaching my daughter in CF softball, to working in and discussing our flower beds. Time may have passed in between each crossing, but seeing her smile and hearing her soft laugh was as if time had not passed at all. Until our paths cross again my friend . . . .

  • We offer our deepest sympathy to your family, may God bless you. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

  • My sympathy to Treisa’s family, especially her parents and daughter. I just found out today about her passing, and it just shocked me. It is such a lost.

After all these years, I still have such fond memories of my senior year and softball season at MVNU when Treisa was a freshman. We had so much fun and success on the diamond that season. But I also think about how Treisa would come and hang out at our apartment between classes or before practices, and becoming friends with her. We laughed together so much, and I remember being sad that I only had the chance to play together with her for one season.

    Cheryl Lowery

    • Treisa always put a smile on our face & brought laughter to our apartment. Like Cheryl stated, only getting to play one season with Treisa was a sad realization. My heart and prayers goes out to Kaeli, Carl, Mary Ann and the rest of the family. Thank you for sharing Treisa with the MVNC Family.

      Kris Holder
