LEXINGTON: Todd A. Lehnhart, age 50, of Lexington passed away Wednesday morning April 3, 2013 in Vitas Hospice in Naples Florida, surrounded by his loving and supportive family after battling cancer for over 3 years.

Todd was born August 11, 1962 in Mansfield the son of Jerry and Carole (Whatman) Lehnhart and graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1980.

Todd worked as a corrections officer for Richland Correctional Institution.

Todd loved the outdoors and nature, especially camping and mushroom hunting. Todd also loved feeding birds and deer during the winter months.

Todd was also a huge sports fan particularly football, baseball, and basketball. From little league to the big leagues, Todd was always involved in sports. He rooted for The Ohio State Buckeyes and also participated in fantasy football leagues every sports season.

Todd spent 15 years volunteering to many of the local baseball organizations. He coached his son’s baseball team for 13 years, and spent 6 years as the Senior Boys Director for the Lexington Baseball and Softball Association. Todd also spent 7 years serving on the board of the Mid-Ohio Babe Ruth League where he was instrumental in bringing Fall Ball to the Richland County area.

Todd was a big music lover and would often travel the state and sometimes out of state to attend concerts. Attending hundreds of concerts, Todd especially liked classic rock and heavy metal music.

Todd is survived by his amazing wife Sheryl (Dove) Lehnhart of Lexington; three children Amanda (James) Boyd of Powell, Zachary Lehnhart of Lexington and his fiancée Stacy Mann of Canton, and Chelsea Lehnhart of Lexington; mother Carole Lehnhart of Bellville; sister Traci (Todd) Russell and brother Troy (Karen) Lehnhart both of Bellville, and sister Tami Lehnhart of Lexington; special godson Noah Therrien, niece Hollie Russell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Lehnhart in 1994, grandparents Fred and Martha Lehnhart and Albert and Opal Whatman, very special cousin John Whatman in 2011 and good friend Rodney Wallace in 2006.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 3-7pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am. The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate and burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Lexington Baseball and Softball Association may be made through the funeral home.
