Toby David O’Neill

January 25, 1968 ‒ June 16, 2014

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Toby David O’Neill, 46, was called to his Heavenly Home, Monday, June 16, 2014.  Toby was born on January 25, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan. He later moved to Upper Sandusky with his family before finally moving to the Raintree in Mansfield in 1983 where he currently resided.  He was a graduate of Newhope School and then went on to work at Richland Newhope Industries, Inc. where he was involved in various jobs and activities with his friends.

Toby is survived by his beloved mother Nancy (Trautwein) O’Neill of Upper Sandusky; brother Nathan O’Neill of Mansfield, as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert O’Neill of Marion, sister, Sharon, maternal grandparents, Leon and Alice Trautwein and paternal grandparents, Harold and Virginia O’Neill.

Toby was a bright spot in the lives of the other residents of the home and his family. He had a relaxed attitude and was happy and content most of the time.  He enjoyed being outside, relaxing in the spa, listening to music and attending concerts. Toby will always be remembered for his good nature and the positive “thumbs up” he would give when reacting to the things he enjoyed doing.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements for Toby. The family will observe a graveside service to celebrate the life of Toby D. O’Neill at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive Ashland, OH 44805 or the Raintree, 721 Scholl Rd. Mansfield, Ohio 44907.

  • After working 20+ years at the Raintree I not only got to know Toby well but absolutely loved him. He was so sweet and it was such a joy to have been involved in his life at the Raintree. I am now retired but am sure Toby will be sincerely missed by all his friends at Newhope. Toby is a sweet angel now and no longer confined to that darn wheelchair – rest in peace sweet Toby!

  • Nancy & family: We are so sorry to read about your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • I sure did enjoy taking care of Toby at The Raintree and he sure will be missed. I use to tease him all the time because it seemed as if he was always trying to hitch a ride.. with his thumbs up.. well you got a ride to heaven Toby and one day I hope to see you again!! Rest in Peace!
