Timothy A. Timmy “Bubba” Mendenhall, age 57 of Delaware passed away Wednesday afternoon February 10, 2010 in Westerville after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 24, 1952 in Delaware to the late Arthur Ellison and Erma Mendenhall. He was a Clamp Truck Operator for the Genco-Whirlpool Company in Groveport.

Bubba was well liked by all who knew him, he lived life to its fullest and the fact that he could bring a smile to people’s faces brought him great enjoyment. He enjoyed listening to music specifically the blues. He had a tremendous passion for sports and was an all conference tackle on the 1970 Delaware Hayes High School championship football team. He also participated on the Hayes wrestling and track teams. After attending Akron University, he spent 19 years as a coach for various organizations including football at Buckeye Valley, wrestling at Willis Intermediate, girl’s softball and as an umpire for the Delaware Parks and Recreation Department. He also enjoyed watching all sports on television or in person. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams. His concern was always for others not about himself.

He is survived by his wife: Kristy Mendenhall of Delaware; a son & Best Friend: Nick (Jeanelle) Mendenhall of Westerville; a daughter: Holly Mendenhall of Delaware; a brother: Jimmy (Gail) Mendenhall of Chicago; and niece: Taylor Mendenhall of Chicago. He had numerous cousins.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street (SR 36) Delaware where a memorial service and celebration of his life service will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. with Pastor Corey Bane officiating.
