Tillman J. Johnson, 91 of Delaware, formerly of Columbus died early Wednesday – Aug. 29, 2001 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.

He was born on March 23, 1910 in Beresford, SD to the late Joel and Ida C. (Bergquist) Johnson, after the death of his parents he was raised by Uncle & Aunt: Magnus & Anna Jensen. Served as Captain in the US Army, 14th Infantry during WW II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He moved to Columbus in 1946 where he received a Ph.D. degree from the Ohio State University and came to Delaware in 1991.

Retired in 1980 as Associate Professor of Botany at the Ohio State University, where he was active in various University clubs and activities. Member St. Andrews Christian Church “Disciples of Christ”, Columbus.

Preceded in death by his first wife: Martha V. (Flowers) in 1976, his second wife: Elizabeth A. (Lewis) Everton in 1994, Son: Robert in 1949, 1 Sister, 2 Brothers.

Survived by children: Alan J. (Terri) Johnson of Seymour, IN, Mary Ann (John) Carleton of Delaware, David (Florilda) Everton of Memphis, TN, Janet (Ray) Stephenson of Milan, IL, Marcia (Richard) Ihlendorf of Dublin, OH, 13 Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, Sister: Dora Jensen of Beresford, SD.

Friends may call Friday 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36) DELAWARE. Memorial services will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Christian Church, 1985 Swansford Dr. at Smokey Row, Dublin, Rev. Morgan Wickizer officiating.

Burial will follow at a later date in Komstadt Church Cemetery in Beresford, S.D.
