Thomas S. “Si” O’Quinn, age 74 of Johnstown, passed away Sunday evening January 10, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 18, 1941 in Venia, VA to the late Thomas and Hattie (Hess) O’Quinn. He was a retired farmer and printer with Robin Enterprises of Westerville. He was a member of New Direction Church, Sparrow Lodge No. 400 F&AM of which he was a Past Master and a 50 year member, George Lewis Behrens Chapter No. 504 OES, Big Walnut Historical Society, Harlem Township Heritage and Master Printers of America.

Si enjoyed turning wood into items on his lathe and growing vegetables and sweet corn in his garden.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Lynda (Cook) O’Quinn and they were married September 4, 1959 near Johnstown, daughters: Robin (Steve) Hougham of Manhattan, KS, Rebecca (Dennis) Hawkey of Avon, IN, Deedra (Scott) Gillespie of Johnstown; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Doris (William) Fisher of Medina, Phillis (Leonard) McGee of Sunbury.

Preceded in death by brothers: Glenn, Thurmond, Ellis O’Quinn.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 7 p.m. Memorial Service Thursday January 14, 2016 at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury with Pastor Roger Neibarger officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Harlem Township Heritage, 3883 S State Route 605, Galena, Ohio 43021; Big Walnut Historical Society, PO Box 362, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 or Mount Carmel Hospice, 793 W. State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43222 .

  • I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Sy. Sy always had a smile on his face and was full of stories when he came to our office for his dental needs. He was a delight and will be truly missed. My deepest condolences and sympathies to you, Lynda and family.

  • Sounds like Si was an interesting character who will be sadly missed by many. I never met him, but I know he raised at least one great daughter, and there is much to be said for that. Peace be with your family in your time of loss.
