He was the long time videographer for Senior High football and also served as public address announcer at many basketball games. He was the first operator of the message board at Arlin Field. Later in his career he moved to the Wynford Royals football program as videographer. As a videographer he made hundreds of DVDs and tapes for athletes and their parents, coaches, and college recruiters. Additionally, Tom was a diehard Indians, Browns, and Cavs fan.

Tom was passionate about music. Not a casual listener or watcher he was a serious student of music and film.

Tom was gentle, kind, considerate, and giving of everything in his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Ruth Ann “Rudy”; children Jenifer Siwek and Jason (Jackie) Siwek; grandchildren Meghan Shenberger and Courtney Siwek; brother Bob (Sandy) Nye; niece Stephanie Nye; Aunt Barbara Nye and his K9 companions Huey and Pepper.

  • One of my favorite teachers, Mr. Nye cared about his students and wanted the best for them. I am glad to have had the time in his classroom and to have grown because of it. I would make a comment about prayers and god, but Mr. Nye would know that I would believe that to be all nonsense (and he’d respect my honesty and point of view). A great man is lost, but we all benefitted by our time with him. Thank you.

  • Many fond memories of Tom in high school and especially in band. God blessed us all who knew him. I have no doubt he was a grand teacher. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

  • There were none who had Mr. Nye as a teacher who could not say that he positively influenced their lives. He had an extreme amour of understanding, caring and intuitiveness with students that is rare and special. All who experienced his good nature, his eagerness to help and his deft ability to take the slightly weird people in life under his wing and let them know it was ok to cultivate your weird know that he was truly one of a kind. My only regret is that I never had the chance to go back and thank him for everything he did. He never has and never will be forgotten by this Malabar Falcon.

  • I am sadden to hear of the loss of Mr. Nye. I am one of those players on the football team that still has the videos he made for us 14 years ago. He was a awesome English teacher, friendly and caring. I remember in class, reading the daily news headlines, and the chart topping hits. He kept class fun and interesting. I will always remember Mr. Nye. He was always at football practice, filming for long hours. He was a dedicated educator, and will be missed. My deepest sympathies to your family and friends!

  • Tommy was a very likeable person with an infectious smile. He truly was a warm, genuine, and decent man.
